Almost Saturday! 🎒🔥 Happy weekend ya’ll! From the gritty underbelly of NYC’s streets to the spine-tingling mysteries of ancient spirits, we’ve taken you on a whirlwind of stories. Missed an episode? Let’s dive into what went down this week! 👇

Crime: On November 1, 1950 a dramatic attempt to assassinate President Harry S. Truman was made while he was staying at Blair House with his family, as the White House was undergoing renovations. The incident unfolded around 2 PM, with the President and his wife upstairs at the time. Two members of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party tried to storm the house, opening fire as they entered. However, their plan was quite haphazard, as investigations later showed they weren't even sure if the President would be there. In the end, one of the attackers was killed by the security officers at Blair House, and the other was captured.

Crime: On November 1, 2022 David DePape, a far-right conspiracy theorist who had unlawfully entered the residence of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco on 28th of October, told law enforcement that he intended to take the Democratic congressional leader hostage and "break her kneecaps". Authorities have charged DePape, aged 42, with attempted kidnapping, attempted murder, and other offenses, noting that he possessed zip ties, rope, and tape in a backpack at the time of the break-in. During the incident, he inquired about the whereabouts of Nancy Pelosi from Paul Pelosi, aged 82. He also attacked and assaulted him with a hammer to get to Pelosi. The House Speaker wasn’t present at the house.

Religion: On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII issued a significant papal document known as “Munificentissimus Deus,” which officially proclaimed the dogma of the “Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.” This doctrine holds a central place in Roman Catholic theology and teaches that Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, was assumed into heaven both in body and soul at the conclusion of her earthly life. This belief underscores the special role and sanctity attributed to Mary within the Catholic faith, emphasizing her purity and her unique status.

Religion: On November 1, 1512 after four years of dedicated and painstaking work, the renowned Italian artist Michelangelo Buonarroti unveiled his magnificent masterpiece, a 5,800-square-foot fresco painting adorning the ceiling of the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel. The intricate design features different groups of people, some dressed and some not, showing Michelangelo's talent in drawing the human body in many positions. The ceiling was quickly admired and copied by other artists, a trend that even continues until today.
