His surrender marked the end of the Apache Wars, closing a significant chapter in Native American history. Geronimo’s capture symbolized the relentless push of U.S. expansion and the tragic displacement of indigenous peoples.
War: On this day in 1944, the British 11th Armoured Division liberated Antwerp, Belgium, during World War II. This strategic victory opened up the vital port, allowing Allied forces to receive crucial supplies. The success at Antwerp was a turning point, accelerating the push towards victory in Europe.
