FRIDAY BEFORE HALLOWEEN! 🎒🔥 Some MORBID things happened Today In History and we had two very interesting episodes this week! Get ready for a journey through dark histories and undercover missions.👇

Crime: On October 25, 2021 the Higher Regional Court of Munich convicted a German ISIS member for her involvement in the enslavement, abuse and killing of a five-year-old Yazidi girl as well as the enslavement and abuse of the child’s mother in Fallujah, Iraq. In summer 2015, the defendant's husband punished Rania for wetting the bed by tying her outside in 45°C heat. The defendant and her husband left her there, leading to her death. Despite knowing the danger, the defendant did nothing to help.

The 30-year-old woman known as ‘Jennifer W.’ was found guilty of aiding and abetting crimes against humanity and abetting the war crime of attempted murder by omission, and for being part of a foreign terrorist organization. The Chamber of 5 judges sentenced the defendant to 10 years in prison.

War: On October 25, 1983 United States invaded Grenada in response to the coup that not only ousted the prime minister Maurice Bishop but also led to his tragic death, leaving the country in a state of turmoil. The operation aimed to protect American citizens living on the island and restore a democratic government. U.S. forces, comprising about 7,000 troops, launched a swift and decisive campaign against Grenadian military and Cuban forces, facing relatively minimal resistance. The invasion was also framed as part of the broader Cold War context, as the U.S. sought to curb Soviet influence in the Caribbean. By the end of the operation, U.S. troops had successfully ousted the military regime, and a new government was established, though the incursion was controversial and sparked debates about U.S. foreign policy and military interventionism.

Religion: On October 25, 431 The Council of Ephesus replaced Nestorius with a new patriarch of Constantinople. Nestorius, a prominent figure in early Christian history, was strongly disapproved for allegedly holding the controversial belief that two separate persons indwelled the incarnate Christ. This theological position, often referred to as Nestorianism, suggested a division between the divine and human natures of Jesus Christ, which was deemed heretical by the mainstream Church.

Mafia: On October 25, 2007, The Guardian reported the arrest of the mother and sister of Sebastiano Mazzeo for abetting the mafia in killing him. It was found that he was cooperating with authorities in tightening their grip against the organized crime in Sicily. Sebastiano was not an outsider to mafia as he was also the son of a Cosa Nostra godfather.

He disappeared in 1989 when he was only 20. It took years for the police to make a move in this case because they were not able to gather enough evidence that could prove the presence of Sebastiano’s mother and sister at a meeting in a villa near Catania where it was agreed he should be killed.
